We're so excited to be starting on our new project. This 1957 DeVille travel trailer was picked up at an auction recently and I am IN LOVE! I can't wait to help restore it to it's original (and updated) beauty. Below are some pics that will show the start of our journey.
Home on the range...
Looking inside the door. Somebody put that nasty 70s paneling over the once beautiful birch veneer that lined the entire inside.
The stove top is not original, but the ice box is. We will likely change this.
I sure do not want to know who/what was sleeping in the bed.
These cabinets are above the sink/stove area. Again - not original.
Use to be an upper bunk. We could tell this once we removed the ugly paneling.
Sink/stovetop. Again - we'll be changing this.
Eating area minus the table. The seats were rebuild when whomever originally remodeled this.
Cabinets above the table area. UGLY!
And here we start taking it all out. Yay for demo!
Starting to see the original wood. Too much water damage on some of this so we will redo. The 'water tank' in shown in the lower right hand corner. We're going to replace this as well.
No more cabinets for the sink/ice box. We'll rebuild.
Area in bottom left is to be able to access the spare tire if needed. Just love that they put styrofoam there.
No more table area/bench seats. Or ugly cabinets above.
Bye bye closet - that again was a rebuild.
Original laminate that was under capet and other laminate.
Pretty birch...too bad we won't be able to save much of it.
The wiring is where an original electric lamp was. The 'x' is where a gas lamp was. The bottom side of the cabinet is rounded. Thankfully we will be able to save this.
Another area that will need repair.
This is the ceiling where the vent is. It will all need to be redone. These people who had it use spray foam on a ton of stuff...yuck.
Another area where we'll need to redo the flooring.
So, that's what we did today. We did move out the icebox as well and clean up the flooring. We're pricing the new paneling and then will work on fixing the floor where it needs to be fixed and then rebuilding. Again, we're super exicted. I can't wait to make this old beauty our own and restore her to her finest :)
